Montreal based singer/songwriter Derek Orsi pushes the boundaries of Alt Rock with his unique blend of melodic hooks, odd time signatures and social satire. His music is an eclectic movement of wild frequencies, drawing inspiration from artists like John Frusciante, Radiohead, Audioslave and Bjork.

Orsiʼs debut LP Fallen Angels will be released in the summer of 2021 and is supported by the single Faire La Fenetre. The record crosses the bridge of indulgence with instrumentation ranging from violas and pianos to distorted guitars and 808s. Fallen Angels was conceived as a studio project between Orsiʼs gigs as a producer but quickly materialized into a powerful living organism.

The journey began in the early 2000s when Orsi jumped onto the music scene as the guitarist for the Nu Metal Outfit The Shannon Index. The band released a self-titled EP in 2002 and built a strong grassroots following with radio play in the US and Canada. He later joined forces with Funk Rockers Kamikaze Baby and released an EP with the band in 2006 titled Identity Crisis.

After years on the road as a touring musician, Orsi shifted his focus and opened the Freq Shop recording studio in 2011 with partner Dave Traina. He went on to engineer, mix and produce records for The Damn Truth, We Are Monroe, John Jacob Magistery and Juno nominated artist The Franklin Electric. Orsi also spent time in Los Angeles working under Grammy nominated producer Brandon Friesen in 2018.

He moonlighted for over a decade as an Alt Pop DJ on the Montreal club scene and his unique style landed him several performances at Osheaga's Artist World. These years proved very fruitful in his development as a songwriter/producer.

The onset of the pandemic inspired Orsi to release music he'd written and recorded over the years. He released his first single Crash & Burn in May 2020 and has been building momentum for his LP release ever since.

Music is the language of the soul and Orsi unapologetically strives for honesty, integrity and individuality in all his productions.
