DEREK ORSI

Montreal based singer/songwriter Derek Orsi pushes the boundaries of Alt Rock with his unique blend of melodic hooks, odd time signatures and social satire. His music is an eclectic movement of wild frequencies, drawing inspiration from artists like The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Audioslave and Queens of the Stone Age.

Orsiʼs second single DAYDREAMER, from his upcoming LP Astral Youth, was released on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. This song has a dreamy, pop-rock vibe that'll take you on a surreal journey through the clouds. Daydreamer showcases a lighter, more commercial side to Orsi's songwriting aesthetic.

"This song is a story within a larger narrative. Astral Youth is a concept album that shares the tale of the war between good and evil. This is the ninth track of the record and illustrates the path of ease, freedom, joy and wonder. The album moves through all the human emotions; peace, love, hate, anxiety...it's a story about duality and the ultimate quest for peace," Orsi says.

Orsi wrote, produced and mixed the album himself at his recording studio Freq Shop in Montreal. He hired Mario Telaro (Bobby Bazini) to perform drums, Adam Passalacqua (The Franklin Electric) to play keys, Lee La Baum (The Damn Truth) and Mackenzie Myatt (Po Lazarus) on back vocals with Mario Monaco (Jennifer Lopez) on percussion. This all-star cast was recorded by Orsi along with his studio partner Dave Traina (The Damn Truth).
